Factory refurbished?

Does anyone know if factory refurbished security systems are any good or reliable? I'm looking at one on Ebay and any info would be great ASAP...thanks !

Let's say it's Viper? How reliable is it and how much should I be willing to pay? By refurbished they mean it was returned due to problems, and then fixed? Thanks

Could be returned for lots of different reasons. A good company will check it out and repackage it for resale and give some warranty. Don't lots of security system makers go out of business all the time though?

I dunno if they go out of business. It's on Ebay, I was just curious because I get screwed over on Ebay more often than not. Could anyone give me a good estimate on a Viper 2 way paging security alarm, and a separate estimate on installation?Thanks guys...

if it's with a reputable company, i'll buy factory refurbished before i'll buy new- for the most part they can be less likely to break down- they've been tested to make sure that there's nothing ELSE wrong other then the first problem. also, they are usually cheaper :D

I wouldnt get any electronics that are factory refurbished. I would only buy new and a brand that is reputable. Installation price depends on the type of alarm. Most places in my area wont touch a unit that wasnt purchased through them.

both, actually- and i wouldn't buy anything that's been refurbished by anyone but the manufacturer, anyway. mostly, unless you are buying from a factory store or online version of such, i would be careful about anything that says "Refurbished", because that could also mean "jury rigged by someone picked up off the street"

Maybe. Some shops especially if they sell Viper get snotty if you didn't buy it from them. As far as prices go, depends what things go for in your area. I sell it installed for about $325 or about $100 labor.

all the shops i have installed at wouldnt install anything that we didnt sell. Its due to warranty issues.

One tip about buying on Ebay:: ONLY buy a product from an ebay seller with a respectable and high feedback rating and ALWAYS read the product description before purchasing.
