replacing stock radio light

I thought if I stared at it long enough I'd figure it out, but so far no luck. My 1995 Pathfinder stock radio went dark. It works just fine, but it's really hard to tell what station it's on. For a while I could whack the side of the console and it would come back on, but it looks like I have to actually fix it now. Oh well.

Is there an easy way to pull these radios out without removing the entire console? Does anyone know if this is an LED or backlight or what?

Thanks in advance!

Craig
