Draining Torque Converter

Is it possible to drain the torque converter on a 2000 Taurus? I want to switch to synthetic but need to remove all old oil first. Anyone heard of gently blowing low pressure compressed air through the cooler lines to empty the converter?
Thanks for the help!

Why $8.00 a quart oil? Do you exceed 100 MPH for long periods of time, or do you tow cement mixers? If you read most of the tranny problem threads, reqular filter and fluid changes would have been a good idea prior to the tranny shutting down. The only advantage of syn. other than extreme condition tolerance is extended change intervals. Do you really want to go longer between changes? Does your filter have extra capacity so it won't clog completely due this additional time? I loved Fords for a long time. I restored 5 pre70 'stangs as a kid. I wouldn't pay more then $800 for on of these computer driven maintence nightmares now. The LAST thing I would do is tamper with a "muscle" trans. Just keep it clean. But that's me.
