orange peel removal

Hello again everyone. I have read a few tutorial on how to remove minor orange peel, but for some reason it didnt work....
My problem is that the clear coat has orange peel but the original color underneath the clear coat is smooth. I tried sanding the clear coat with 2000 grit and it didnt work, went down to 800 grit + wax didnt work either. I dont want to sand anymore at this point because I know it will start scratching the paint. Do you guys have any suggestions? I tried polishing and that didnt work either. could it be possible that it is dust that got trapped underneath the clear coat?

When you use clear coat put it on heavily dont mist coat it or else it will be orange peely. Some people might say otherwise but it needs to be heavy to be smooth. I have by no means used every clear coat though so yours might be different than the ones I've used.

not quite a good advice. you will change yur orange peel for paint and uneven finish.

Use small coat first, then do a wet coat once fiinished

Is the clear coat enamel?

What do you mean by 'didn't work'? Can you be more specific?

If you have minor orange peel, it should be easily wet sanded out, or if its really minor, polished out. Just keep sanding until the clear is flat and smooth, then polish it to bring the shine back.

As long as your clear coat is thick enough you shouldn't have to worry about going through to the colour coat. Make sure you have 2-3 good layers of clear on before you polish.

yes, the clear is enamel.

As for the sanding, yes I sanded really well up to a point where it is smooth, I can feel that it is smooth but somehow it looked like it has orange peel under certain light condition. I decided to put a light coat last night, so we'll see what happen when I get home later.
