Today was the first day of school (im a senior now) and a junior who just transferred from Indiana has a saleen mustang just like mine except his is burgandy instead of black. He was telling my friends it was supercharged and had 380 rwhp, but when I pointed out the fact I had one exactly like his he stopped saying that. I just cant believe the odds that out of the 9XX 2000 Saleen Mustangs out there, 2 of them end up in the same high school parking lot, 5 spaces from each other, both being the regular S281, making it even more unique.
Not only that, I hear a kid is gonna be driving a Mach 1 in a few weeks, I guess im gonna have to sell my car and get something faster to be the top dog again, because I cant stand having the exact same car as anyone else, thats what attracted me to a Saleen.

You know, I don't see exactly where you goofed , last time I checked this was a forum for posting stuff. Seems to me, you met all the criteria, you joined and became a member, you obviously know how to type, guess that's about it. I wouldn't worry about it if I was you. Believe me, we've had worse threads than this. Hell, I may have even made one or two myself. :iceslolan

Anyways, back to your original post, your in high school and you got a Saleen Mustang? (see, you even posted in the right forum, ...sorry getting off track again), Damn, I wish I had a toy like that when I was a kid.

Im not rich if thats what you guys think, and I dont believe the other kid is either. The only reason I got a Saleen Mustang is because we got a crazy good deal on it, we were looking for a car under 20k, and we could have gone 2 routes. Either gotten a brand new ok car like an accord or sentra or gotten a nice car that was a few years old, and my dad decided on the latter.
My dads more of a Rolls Royce kinda guy anyhow, hes trying to find a used one (mid 80s model) for around 20k as well.

I dunno. There pobably isn't anything I wouldn't do for my kid, including buying her a $20,000 car if it was within my budget. Hell, it's only money. Besides just think of how nice a car I could have if I could afford to by my kid a $20,000 car! :naughty:

I understand where your coming from saying that a kid with a 20k car is spoiled, but their must be a lot of spoiled kids if car companies would come out with cars like the SRT-4 and VW bug that are more or less targeted to high schoolers or kids just out of highschool.

i would buy my kid a 20,000 dollar car, what parent wouldnt if they could... but like i said, my dad didnt offer to buy me the car, he offered to pay insurance... and he was only gonna do that till i turned 18... my dad did end up buyin me an 86 lesabre for like 3 grand... it was 130 a month, he only woulda been spendin an extra 30 bux a month on insuring the cobra... if that helps put it into perspective for ya.

Hello everyone I am new to this forum but my friend (stratocaster) told me he posted on here and I just thought I would stick up for him here. He really isnt rich at all, he has to do a lot to keep that car too, and personally I dont think I would be able to do what he does lol. Multiple AP classes plus honors and sports, and he has to keep straight A's. Pretty good deal if you ask me but its not easy, his parents didnt just GIVE him that car - hope this adds some perspective.

Maybe its just me, but that kind of sounds like an Alias to me...

Stratocaster5292

Its not an alias, I dont really see why I would have to prove myself to complete strangers online, but I do like expressing my opinions, thats different. I admit this thread had no direction when I started it, and it became another "hatred for high schooler with nice car" thread. If you guys want to express your opinion on highschoolers and whether or not they should have a nice car I just suggest you make a separate thread about it and use me as an example if you want. I hate it when a perfectly good discussion gets ruined when someone goes "your to young to have that car" or something. It completely changes the topic. Its just as bad as when theres a thread comparing cars A and B and some guy chimes in and goes " well I got car C and it can blow the doors off any Car A or B, so suck on that".

Its just as bad as when theres a thread comparing cars A and B and some guy chimes in and goes " well I got car C and it can blow the doors off any Car A or B, so suck on that".First off, let me say that in case you didn't notice, I was trying to stick up for you in the first post I made in this thread by saying you didn't goof, that your topic was just as valid as any "this vs that" thread.
(Thank God, Hiflow put the kibosh on them)

Secondly, I dont think everybody else that posted was hating on you, (including myself), for having a nice car. Some maybe, but not all. I guess I can only speak for myself, but if anything, I'd say I was envious.

Thirdly, I posted that I myself, would buy my kid a nice car if I could afford to. Again, more or less, trying to stick up for you, saying that you weren't spoiled, just fortunate.

Fourthly, I don't see anything, from anybody, anywhere, that says you have to "prove yourself". That's obviously how you see it, but that's not how I see it.

Fifth, and most importantly, if you like "expressing your opinions", don't you think you should at least allow others the same courtesy?

And oh yeah, Welcome to the forum!

Yea I am sorry about my last post, I started to regret it after I had gone to bed, I realized how critical and overblown my response was. I didnt have any quarrel with you mustangman, or any of you guys for that matter, I just got a little upset that people were making judgement calls about me based on my car. And I do want you guys to express your opinions, that last post misrepresented that as well. I do hate it when someone changes the subject of a thread though, you might as well create a new one or at least make a statement that allows the conversation to continue.

Sorry if my thread excited you. I didn't see a reason for you to have an alias, but I also didn't see a reason for your friend to stick up for you, so I wondered if it was just me thinking that. Don't mean to deter you from the forum. I am a fellow youngster(only 15!) so I know where you are coming from. I can't afford a new Saleen Mustang like many others on here, but I am not mad because you can, but glad because at least someone gets one. I have realized this and moved on to dream for a little 6 cylinder '68 Mustang. Cool looks and easy on the gas! So don't feel like we are looking down on you for having a Saleen at your age, because most of us really don't. As mustangman said, welcome to the forum. :)

Alot of people think when they see a young man in highschool or college with a 20k+ car that they are spoild or have rich parents. But for me and a few people i know thats not the case. I have a 02 ws6 T/A that I got as a senior in HS. I am in college now and alot of people think that I have less wories in life or more money and less problems than i really do because all they see is your car. If they spent a day with me at work and home then they would know that i work just as hard and have just as many problems as any one else. My first car was a 91 firebird and a 76 jeep cherokee with lock in hubs and a 4 speed but never you really needed first gear. any way. after about 2 years of great service my car started going down. But we did not have enough money for anything else. My last year of HS a terrible situation happened and I lost my Mom. But she made sure that I would be able to get the things i needed like a college education and a new car. So when I had a choice to get one I wanted I grabbed up the first red ws6 i came across. Even though the dealership called the bank for approval of my 28000 check, he thought I was bullshiting him. Which goes to show you that young men dont get enough respect at car lots ;-) But ive got an uncle with about 300 grand sitting in the bank and drives around a 87 dodge truck. So its hard to always judge people by what they drive.
