Before you do anything, slaw your stang into reverse and give that civic a fair race..but you should some for Ford Racing 3.73 gears and maybe a Steeda Short throw shifter, maybe a throttle body, a Walbro Fuel Pump , some Eibach Springs, and some Bullitt shocks and struts..and like my drunk uncle always says..want to give them a suprise get a lil NoS..lol.. well that is what my freind did to his 99 gt and its runnin badass so idk try it

I think it's sad how people think a V6 Mustang is a performance car. :banghead: There's a powerful V8 for performance guru's. The V6 was never produce with the intent of being a performance car.

ok, but wen all u can afford is a v6 thats wut ur gunna have 2 settle 4...a civic wasnt supposed 2 b a performance car either its an economic car, but ppl still hook dem up

Ok, I don't know if this is 100% acurate, but I'm thinking that if you can afford to modify the hell out of a v6, then you could probably afford to do a v8. I would even bet that some aspects of of it, at least 5.0 compared to 3.8, the 5.0 would be cheaper to modify. That motor has been around for over 40 years, and the aftermarket availabilty of parts for it is damn near endless.

Just think of it in these terms, if you spent $5,000 modifying your 3.8, in any way you want, and I spend $5,000 modifying my 5.0, any way I want, whose motor do you think will produce more power when all the work is done?

So in the end, if your just modding your v6 to be like everybody else, then go ahead and throw your money away, but if your really serious about makin' some horsepower, than get a v8. I promise, you won't be disappointed.

I'm the one with the civic :) Same thing is said in my forum about other people. You guy's argument is Modding a V6 vs modding a V8. Same thing with us civic guys. Why would we mod a single overhead cam engine with 127 HP and work up to 200HP? You can just buy a 1.8 dual overhead cam engine and start off with 180 HP and work up to about 250 to 300. But alot of us are also out to have fun. Power is fun but we're not out to be the fastest in the world (yet)

Okay, first of all I'm not trying to 'bash' american cars just because I drive and tune an import, I have a lot of respect (sometimes fear LOL) for the big American iron, but when people say things like: but i wanna blow the fukin doors of his lil import shit car,, it makes you look pretty damn stupid lol. I drive a modded 98 eclipse GSX (all wheel drive turbo model), and I can occasionally get smoked by a civic, even though my car will run the 1/4 in 13.2-12.8 depending on my launch. This goes to show that when modded right a civic/other honda can be fast as hell (light little fuggers..). So before you start talking shit about all imports and how bad they are, I would look at your V6 and rethink some things - if you can afford a ton of bolt-ons, I agree that you should have gotten a V8 to begin with, where the mods would have produced more gains. Anyway good luck with your car, I'll run you any day

I knew a straight six drag car... I think it was a 47 Chevy. It ran 12's with practically no money in it(although parts were very cheap). I know its kind of off-topic, but it kind of applys. As for the ricers, the 4 bangers can be fast, no doubt about it. But those motors really don't last too long with that abuse, because, yet again, they weren't built for it. It doesnt help that some of the kids will even put a turbo on a non-rebuilt motor. I know it sounds crazy, but it happens. It is just too many rpm's for 4 cylinders to take until extreme wear sets in. I have respect for some, but the ones that smoke and have 120,000+ miles, they really need some time in the garage, and less on the street. Back on topic,I understand why he is modding his 6 . The original car price is much cheaper, so instead of getting a high model escort, he still got the cool looks of the Mustang for the money. Now he just wants some more power, you really can't blame him(although your ebonix are annoying, red99). Just my :2cents: .

That is true, I have no problem that he wants to mod his car, that is very understandable - my car has 72,000 some miles on it and it came from the factory with a turbocharger, so I have to say that the mitsu 4G63 is a pretty damn strong motor lol since it lives under 18-22psi daily driving without issues. I have had to fix things, but this is expected on most cars, and some 4bangers can be built to be very quick with the right care and mods, as the 6 and 8cyl stangs can. I do think that RWD owns for dragging (or AWD - my favorite :evillol: ), and I love to hand a honda its ass from a stoplight. And yes the ebonix are painful to read.

Exactly my point. I guess saying "to be like eveyone else" and "throw your money away" was a bad choice of words. Kinda sounds like I'm totally against it, and that was not my intention. So let me borrow your words and say if your doing it "just for fun" then go ahead and have fun. But I stand by my other statement that, if your serious about makin' horsepower, then a v8 will outshine a v6 anyday, at least with Mustangs anyway.

ok first off i would have rather gotten a v8 than a v6 n e day, but this is my first car...(n under my moms insturance) n my parents got me da car, n they didnt wanna get me a v8 for acouple reasons...one they sed its 2 powerfull, my pops used to have a 70~~sumpin cobra n he would get speeding tix all da time as a kid... also v8's take more gas also, this is my first car n im not tryin to make it a dragster, jus tryin to do a lil work on it n learn so wen i can afford to buy a gT or cobra or any v8 at that(n put it under my own insurance) i will know wut im doin (kinda...lol)

You got a point there! I'm on a budget myself. Besides, I'm still making payments on my Mustang. So there's no sense in modifying it till I pay it off. Well, maybe a couple of bolt ons, but nothing serious right now. If that's what you want to do, make it happen! Since joining this forum, I see a few guys bashing V6 owners for modifying them but nobody says anything about the sooped up Hondas and Mitsu's. What's the difference? In my opinion a car's a car. With enough money... anything can happen!!!!!!!!!!! Good luck!!!!!!

NEVER EVER EVER call a civic "Not a performance car".... well... bleh yes it was originally made to be economical but look at the different models they have. Just like the mustang

Regular civic = Not originally made for performance
Regular mustang = Not originally made for performance
Civic SI = More performance
Mustang GT = More performance
Civic Type R = really fast and crazy performance but expensive as hell
Mustang Cobra = really fast and crazy performance but expensive as hell
