71 vette starter problem?

I attempted to start my 71 C3 the other day and the starter kept turning the engine even after I turned the key to the off position. Please advise.

could be a bad starter, or ignition switch. hard to tell without seeing it

Starter good cause it was turning engine but solenoid might be stuck or fused.

definately look at the solenoid!

I agree, solenoid. This is a very common problem with boats where corrosion is present. You may also want to put a heat shield over the solenoid (sold in speed magazines). Excess heat may have caused the problem to begin with.
