I've noticed a general preference of the 700r4 over the 4l60e, just wondering what the differences are.

well said. most of the people i know prefer not to mess w/ the electronics, especially in the older cars.

well assuming that you are talking about the 700r4/4l60e. because technically the 4l60e is a designation that a transmission is electronically controlled, but isn't for a specific tranny. my t56 that came out of a '97 z28 is a 4l60e.

so in sumation

4l60e= electronic controlled, can be any tranny

700r4= a really tough 4-speed auto
