I have been thinking about this a lot lately which car do you reckon offers the best bang for buck? There are no set cars in the comparison, but to keep it easy, we'll make it so that the car has to still be on sale somewhere.

My favourite candidates are:
-Dodge Neon SRT-4
-BMW M3 (Even more so in the US)
-Porsche Boxster S
-Subaru Impreza WRX STi
-Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution VIII
-Honda Civic Type R
-Peugeot 206 RC180
-Ford Mustang SVT Cobra
-Porsche 911 GT3
-TVR (Well no model, all of these offer mind blowing performance for the price)
-Noble M12 GTO
-Lotus Elise
-Caterham 7 R500
-MG ZT 260
-Holden Commodore SS
-Ford Falcon XR8
-Honda Accord 2.4 Type S
-Alfa Romeo 156 2.5 V6
-Citroen Xsara VTS Coupe
-Renault Clio Sport 182 Cup
-Citroen C2 GT
-Mazda RX8

What are your favourite BFYB candidates?

This is a hard selection so this is how I had them figured out.

For all out performance, in the league with supercars such as the Zonda and Murcielago, and beating the stradale and the GT3 for way less money is the Noble GTO M12-3R. So #1 on my list is the noble if you can afford it.

Below the noble i would place the Z06 vette since for 50K it can give exotics a good run for their money

In the 30K range the EVO and STI offer unbeatable performance.

And for utimate money savings the SRT4 is unbeatable.

It would be good to mention the Mosler Photon which plays easily in the supercar field for way less if you can put up with absolutelly no comforts.

And on that note the Radical seems literally unbeatable if you can call it a car.

The TVR Tuscan S is also a good bang for the buck in my opinion. I would love to see the Tuscan S go head to head with Porsche 911 GT3.

Out of that lot, The 911 GT3 is great, but the basic Carrera 4 is still a good car, and much cheeper. The RX8 is certainly entertaining, and refreshingly different, but top on my list would be the TVR Cerbera 4.5. This is Ferrari 550 performance (and if the truch is known, better quality) for a third of the price!

The 206 GTi180 is sharp, as is the Mini Coopper S. The Lotue Elise and Vauxhall VX220 Turbo are others that I feel should really be on the list.

SRT-4
Mustang Cobra SVT
Corvette
Corvette Z06
Viper

Others...(considering handling + performance)
STI
EVO VIII
S2000

I'm with this guy, and for the record I'll gladly put up without a candy-ass CD player or AC if it means I can spank 911 GT3's and 360CS Modenas at Elkhart Lake with ease.

For new higher league performance cars I will have to go with the Ultima GTR.
30 grand area I would have to say the WRX/STI and EVO are monsters.

now for us poor folk who feed on the used cars that dont your fancy warrenties and such nonsence..
1g AWD DSM
5.0Mustang
c4 vette
mk1 mr2
easly miata
CRX
88 fiero

also, cant get much more bang for your buck in performance then a bike(then just get a reliable daily driver).. :evillol:

noble is an amazing car. Also I like the tvr tamora or the t350. They canboth go 175mph and when compared to a M5 or a SL55 AMG they are faster and far cheaper

i would have to say the STI. the EVO is far superior car, but the evo always cost heaps more than the same year of STI, and STI's depreciate faster, so from the money u save, u can modify it and tune out all the bad power and handling characteristics. i think the M3 is really cheap in the US right? because that probably is best bang 4 buck (about $US 50,000 ??? ) if thats the case it is an absolute bargain and u yanks dont know how lucky u are (we pay $AUD 142,000 for a brand new E46 M3)
