is there anything wrong with my car?

Hi, I'm new here...and i got a 91 300zxTT

My question is whenever i start my car or whenever my car is idle...I notice the rpm goes up and down a little bit...like it will go from 1 down to almost 0 then back up to 1...it does that only once everytime i start the car then after that it will go up and down slightly between 1 and 2...the pin never stays still....is there anything wrong or is it normal??

it does this once the car is warm? or still cold. it shouldnt be moving around once it is warmed up. u might be having the same problem im havin. AAC valve. damn $300 part.

$300 from a wreckers or from Nissan!?
Should be pretty cheap if you head around to a wreckers. I'd say around $120 or so.
I'll find out tomorrow how much they go for around here.

iv a 1979 280zx which does exactly the same thing! stops when the car is warm, but when its cold it surges from next to nothing to about 1000 rpm

iv heard that its the distributer????

Yea but Z32's dont exactly have common distributors... The spark packs connect directly to the EFI Harness.

It may be that your EGR (Exhaust Gas Recirculation) valve or arms may be clogged up. Have a mechanic run some test's on it, it may be worth doing so.

yeah that $300 is nissan cost. the junkyards in my area dont have any 300zx's to pull parts off of. some parts i can order but it gets really expensive for used parts beings u have to pay shipping and then u have to pay 2 junkyards there profit for the part. (ie: $1300 for a transmission with approximately 130,000 miles on it)

$1750 for a VG30DE + 5spd box with approx 120,000 km on them.

hahhahahaha....thats where i wasnt thinkin. i ended up payin about 1900 for my tranny to get rebuilt and installed and all that. now i want to do a TT swap. if i was thinkin and knew as much as i do now about z32's i would have just ordered myself a TT front clip. well thats what lack of knowledge will get u.

well it could be all those expensive problems the other guys listed...

or it could be a vaccum leak. be sure to check ALL of the vaccum lines before anything else
