I'm looking to get some new truck wheels and I was wondering wether I should just get polished or spend a little extra and go with chrome?

if you get chrome and live in somewhere with salt, you have to be really conscious of cleaning them every few days. Chrome also adds alot of weight.

I'd go with a polished with clear coat sealer. They will look better longer and be safe for use in the Winter.

could someone fill me in on the polishing process? like i would think they would kind of "sand" off the powder coating or whatever it is, polish the bare metal and coat it in gloss or something????

Spend the extra money and buy CHROME WHEELS!!There's nothing better looking than the sun beaming on chromes rims!! IMO

I would say if you don't go with the chrome you will be sorry. The picture below is a picture of polished rims after about a year or two..and now they don't even look that good. I live in Michigan so we get snow, and I wasn't very smart about the salt and now I had perminent pitting in the metal. It really sucks. My grandmothers 2002 PT Cruiser has stock chrome wheels on it and she probably washes her car every other week in the winter and the wheels still look fantastic when just cleaned with special wheel cleaner. Im am very jelous....My next wheels will definataly be chrome.

Well, you could easily pollish those wheels and make them look even better than they did new (except for the pitting of course). If you wanted, you could make those wheels look almost like they are crome...just takes a little work.

Well I tried using a polishing wheel and some polishing compound...like the kind you buy at lowes or something...and the next time I go to wash them the polish gets dull again when I use any type of cleaner. So how were you thinking of going about it?
