Celica power?

Hi I am looking into getting a 5th gen Celica. I was wondering what model would give me the most power stock and if that model would be easy to mod for better performance. Originally I was looking to getting a Celica all trac but locating one around where I live has been very difficult so I am thinking that, that car is out of the question.

well if you look on ebay they're on there all the time...but in the normal person world were you only have like less that 5 grand on a good 5th gen celi...your best bet is probably the regular GT model not as heavy as the GTS (less options usually) the gt and gts have same motor and stuff so...less options equal more speed. hope i helped some

Thanks any i dea of how much hp is being put out by a gt and what do you think is the most hp you can get out of a celica gt.

The stock 1990 Celica GT with a 2.2L L4 5SFE was rated at 130hp, the following years up to 1993 went up by about 5hp. With a stock engine with a turbo kit you can safely get up to 45hp more @ 5 or 7 psi (no intercooler) and then with outher aviable bolt ons and performance parts you can pop that 200hp border.

the whole engine or just the turbo.

whole engine - yes, but will need wiring harness and ecu as wwell. cost- 3-5k
turbo- yes you can build a kit using this turbo and bolt it to your existing engine. yuo will need several other parts like, exaust manifold, downpipe, piping, intercooler, fuel injectors, oil pan, someething to control the ecu. etc.

ohh and i forgot to ask you how much horsepower will i gain.

anywhere from 1000-2500 dollars depending on how good of parts you get. you should expect about 200hp running at conservative boost about 8psi, depending again on how good your kit is. if you want you run higher boost you will need new internals. read up on this before you think about doing it. there is a section here about it and at celicatech.com there is a thread where a guy named pressure2 walks through his instal;lation of a turbo on his 5sfe.

what about running nitrous in the celica instead of turbo. How much would it cost, what all would you need to set it up, and whats better wet or dry nos for the celica? thanks.

my turbo kit has cost me an astonishing $1514 and its finally completed just not on my car
if you didnt detect the hint of sarcasm in my voice its becuase i preety much bought everything new, and bought expensive shit, the only thing i really cut corneres on is the intercooler, just cuz i really dont need an expensive or good one...but my engine managment is fucking AWSOME, couldtn really get any better unless i went with a greddy emanage or sumthing like that, but even then there would be slim to none to gain on that

i just got back from vacation and wanted to get crackin on this once i got back, so i told one of my firneds what to buy and he went shopping for some of it, he got the maifold off of celicatech, the injectors of off clelica tech and some other shit other places but i got most of it through ebay :) (gotta love ebay)

i acutally just finihsed up the manifold last night, i had a new flange welded on top of the old flange becuase they didnt fit right, ill mabe post pics tonight or tmrw or sumthin
