i had the same problems with my 93.....the turn signals and the display were two different problems....the turn signal switch had to be replaced it had went bad when they changed the light switch cuz ford messed up....the dash goes out on mine also and it is digital....i find it freezes up occasionally....the way i fix it and i think is a loose connection is banging on the dashboard...that fixes it....sumtimes it will show wierd numbers too....i was told to take the dash apart but i havent had the time....so maybe check the connections???

Sounds like a main wire issue. check to see if it is connected or is loose.

More than likely, the problem is the ignition switch.
Now, I don't mean the cylinder where you put the key. That just operates the switch via a "rod." The actual switch is a few inches farther down the column.
They have a tendency to come apart slightly, causing all sorts of electrical issues.
Take off the column cover and you'll see it. Operate the key a few times and see it the switch looks like it's trying to come apart. If so, that's your problem.

Did you try a different battery? If it's completely dead, the alternator can't do anything about it. And they usually go hand in hand, as far as dying goes - in my experiences, anyways.
86 T-Bird was my very first car ever. My dad got it new in 85, and gave it to me when I turned 18 in late 93. My dumbass traded it in on a new Honda Passport in 99, and I have regretting it to this day. :banghead:
I hope you get your car going soon. They have personality if you ask me - and that Bird was always there for me when I needed it. Good luck, man.

after replacing the altnator twice, voltage regulator battery tps and idle air control as well as my ignition switch my car finally runs right and gets 285 miles to the tank on 87 compared to the 110 i was gettin before but then it blew both head gaskets and spun a bearing so i now have a .040 over 302 4 barrel in it havin to drive it with outta hood though and with straights at the moment due to lack of decesion making skills on the exhaust
