i have a 1988 Z24 with a 2.8 MPI engine...

i got this car recently off some guy.... anyway.. it drives fine, but SOMETIMES, the engine stalls when it's idle for too long, especially in Drive (such as at a red light...this usually happens when i feel the car jerk a little bit coming to the red light...

any help is appreciated, thx!

It sounds like the torque convertor solenoid is going bad.
Try unplugging the plug at the top of the transmission, this is usually a blue plug and is easy to get to. If that is causing the problem you can purchase a new solenoid at the dealer for about $50 and replace it yourself. If not you will continue to have the same problem and you will need to look elsewhere.

I have the same problem, but only in a very cold weather (deep minus), before the engine really warms up. Could it be because of the same thing (TCS)?

I just posted the answer to this in another thread that was posted the same day. Doesn't anyone read other threads first or do searches on this site?

Damn.
