HI all, just joined. Had my 2003 Malibu stolen friday night from my driveway. It was locked. In reading through my insurance policy, I see I was given a discount for the car being equipped with an anti-theft device. I didn't realize it was, to be honest, and just wondered if anyone knows what this device did in the 2003 model? Or, where I might find information on it via the internet. Thanks much.

Very sorry to hear your vehicle was stolen.

The 2003 Malibu had a vehicle antitheft system called PASSLock II.

It did not use a special key, it used a sensor built into the ignition lock cylinder. Idea was if a thief were to yank out the lock cylinder, that this sensor was designed to become inoperative.

The system is supposed to prevent the vehicle from starting by disabling fuel injectors.

Yep ditto above but there is a real easy way to bypass that pk2 system and get it to start.
