This usually occurs when its time for a tune up. (spark plugs, rotor, distributor cap, air filter). While some spark plugs today can be left in for years, the inside posts of the distributor cap always buildup crud (resistance= weak spark) after about a year.
If these parts have been recently replaced, then I would blast the inside of the throttle body with carberator cleaner and make sure to clean out the hole for the idle bypass (air hole for idle speed that bypasses the big butterfly valve). Carbon deposits that buildup from the PCV valve and can block your idle control.
The problems with your gages are a seperate issue.
