Blowing fuses for turn signals

My 1998 Silverado 1500 has recently developed a problem where it blows fuses used for turn signals. After replacing the fuse, I check the turn signals, hazard lights, brake lights, lights; all see to be in working order with no bulbs burned out. Sometimes the fuses blow right away. Sometimes I can drive for days before blowing a fuse. I can't tell exactly when it happens; they either work or they don't.
Any ideas on where to start tracking down the problem? I did take it to a dealer, but after a brief look they didn't find any problems because the turn signals happened to be working the day I took it in.
Thanks for any help.

Had the same problem on my 98 and it was one of the wires for a front turn signal grounding out on the frame. It hadbeen rubbing and wore the insulation off. It sounds as though you have a wire grounding out somewhere also.

Thanks. I'll check it out and see if I can find the short.
