Hey people I hope you might know a little bit more about this subject than me. I want to become an auto mechanic with a diploma, not a bunch of certificates. I live in Chicago but out of state schools will do fine too. I’m considering Lincoln Tech Institute if anybody had experience with this school tell me about it. Please suggest any good schools that can get you a diploma in automotive technology, or any other comments you might have. Thanks for your time. E-Mail: [email protected] P.S. My apologies for posting this message in multiple groups, I just want to get some answers.

What are you looking to get into with this education? Racing or simple mechanic work?

Simple mechanic most likely at a dealership.

Then you just need to get your foot in the door and start earning those certificates. Any trade like mechanic work is primarily on the job training, not school based education.

That's the other thing with certificates I can maybe max out at 40gs a year where as at Lincoln Tech they are promising starting positions as high as 45 and 50 grand.
