a little BOV help...

ok i'm finally getting a K&N FIPK this week :grinyes: now i wanna get an aftermarket BOV because these stock plastics ones are HORRIBLE... my question is should i get the HKS SSQ? or this one? http://www.machv.com/mitcombypval.html

it's a 1g made for a 2g for $145...

i'm kind of on a tight budget...and i really love the sound the SSQ makes but can't really afford it...do you guys think this 1g bov will be any good? i mean anything has to be better than stock...but if i spend this much money i want to make sure i'm getting my money's worth. i know if i got the SSQ i probably wouldn't have any dislikes about it at all...but i'm questioning about the 1g because it's a hell of a lot cheaper.

145!! HOly shit. First of all, I would never ever keep the stock UICP, because it is an absolute piece. So buying an adapter to the stock UICP is a waste of cash. Here is my suggestion. Pick up a used 1g BOV for 40 dollars (thats the going rate) and a dejon tool or similar UICP for 90-100 bucks. Now you have gotten your money's worth out of that 145 bucks ;)

$145 for a 1G is a rip off, even with the adapter plate or whatever. $60 maxxxx , but $45 is a good price. Dejontool makes really good IC pipes as 95_GSXracer said.

People very frequently sell used 1g bovs on an UICP for a 2g for around $100...I've seen several Dave Brode UICPs on DSMtuner.com classifieds for that price, including 1g bovs. I got my Brode UICP w/ 1g bov and Extreme Technologies filter and adapter for $125 shipped. Don't pay $145 to adapt the 1g bov to a 2g restrictive pipe. Check out some classifieds, and if you wait a week or two, you'll find yourself a sweet deal ;)

im in the same boat as you are. i have a stock 2g bov, and it is the leakiest little mother ive ever seen. i cant run over about 12 pounds of boost with it and its time for an upgrade, but i dont know what would be my best buy. i plan on running about 18-19 psi, and i could care less about how the bov sounds. if i get the 1g bov, should i buy the uicp kit from dejon tool, or what? and if thats the case, should i get a brand new 1g bov or just buy used? oh and is that "leak stop kit" of theirs worth anything?

I did what they call the leak stop thing years ago. It used to be called "Gus-modded." :D Gus Mahone came up with the idea, and you might still be able to get to the info through www.dodgegarage.com. It defintely makes a difference, but does add some complexity. I would bother unless you're going over 20 psi. A used 1g BOV is fine.

You will need only the upper intercooler "L" pipe that goes from the top sidemount outlet , under the fuse relay box, that fits onto that woven rubber pipe that feeds directly into the intake manifold. Unless you want to buy the extra adapter for that restrictive stock POS, you JUST need the pipe that the bov mounts onto...and some of those pipes come flanged for a 1g bov. Like I said, many a time you will find used pipes with 1g bovs already installed, when people are upgrading to Type S bovs or fmics.

*EDIT>>Like Kevin said, you should really get rid of the stock L pipe. When you take it out, you'll notice that on the end that goes into the intercooler, the pipe flattens out to like an inch thick and three inches wide...not the best design for great flow IMO :uhoh:

im not a big fan of the 1g bov, i prefer something that makes ear piercing sounds while switching gears

I perfer something that makes good power.

mach v is very insightful but they have some very expensive shit...eveything is at least 40% more there

i have an air filter,injectors, cams, exhaust, afc-2, and other mods, i just didnt think my mod list was relavent to the subject at hand. oh and what the hell is "bass ackwards"? lol
