I've been driving this car hard, just about everyday except for breaking in period of course, i have almost 10k on it, no problems with it, i use synthetic oil, because i drive fast, and its good for the turbo, anyways i've seen people with 100k miles on 1.8t's with very minor problems like airbags, air conditioning, it's mostly electrical, but the engine is bullet proof, it can handle up to 400whp, as i was told by one of the vw/audi engineers, i also seen many people pushing their engine to 400whp, som even 500whp, at which usually u end up with a blown motor. Anyways like i said engine is very reliable, only problems i heard is electrical.

VW has been long known for it's electrical problems. Finally I think they have a good product. CARPOINT.com owned my MSN shows them with a 5 star reliability rating. Check with edmunds too, I think you'll find the same. While your'e at it, come check out my car and tell me what you think of it.
