okay please dont turn this into some dometics v. imports battle. i just need to decide what to get, im tired of my 240 and want to sell it and get something for pretty cheap, i like the 97' mustang (maybe gt) or the 97' talon awd turbo ,they are around the same price and i was just wondering what you guys thought, both have good after market, both have potential, and both look really good. what one should i choose (if i got the stang chances are i would get a supercharger down the line sometime)

Yea I am also about to buy another car and have been looking at both of the cars you mentioned above. They are both fast cars with good aftermarkets. I know that when turbos get high miles you will have alot of problems with them more than likely exp. if you dont take care of them. Thats why im starting to shy off from the Eagle Talon Tsi Awd. So i really cant say much about either car seeing as I am in your situation but im eager to hear what ppl say. goodluck

yeah, ive heard that turbos dont really do anymore damage than a regularly built motor, plus if a turbo goes bad no big deal just get another turbo and your good to go, but if a n/a motor goes bad then it turns into a whole big thing, and the years im looking at i dont really expect to run into alot of high miles or hard use. i dont know though, im thinking talon becase of awd and snowy winters in here in utah. but as for the mustang, i mean come on its a mustang what else needs to be said?

A Mustang GT 97 IMO is ugly and shitty.

Why shitty? Cause it has a 4.6 liter V8 engine and it can only keep up with my 1.6 liter 4 Banger. I have 2 videos where my stock 1.6 honda engine beats stock 97 Mustangs GTs.

Am I a good driver? Yes.

But a decent car with thrise my displacement should fuck me bad.

Bottom line. Get the Turbo AWD.

Either you beat an auto mustang GT or the
driver couldn't drive.An average stock 5 speed 94-98 mustang GT will run 14.7-15.2 compared to your 15.347.Your "engine" did not beat the mustang Gt...The 4.6 liter has 215hp compared to your 160hp(?)and 285 ft/lb tq which is alot more tq then your 1.6 liter engine.So that 4.6 liter engine is more powerfull then your 1.6.You won because your car is like 2,500 lb's compared to the mustangs 3,000+ lbs.So your car won because it was lighter not because you engine is better then the 4.6 and like I said you probably raced an auto and if you raced a 5 speed then the driver can't drive.Now for a v-8,a 96-98 4.6 liter mustang gt is weak compared to other v-8's but if you plan to mod with H/C/I and S/C I would get the mustang over the talon.If your more on leaving the car stock then definetly get the Talon!

Yes, I beat the Mustang GTs in the automatic transmission. Thing is Im in Mexico, and GTS 98 or lower are only found in auto tranny. I take them all day. Yes they are heavier, but they are more than twice my displacement, yet only 30% more weight.

Mustang = 250% MORE DISPLACEMENT
Mustang = 30% MORE WEIGHT

Civic Beats it.
Get what Im trying to say?

Now, 99+ Mustangs are better looking, faster, and I would recommend one of those, just not the 94 - 98 models.

im not really a fan of the new stangs, i think they tryed to hard or something plus they cost alot more, also my car will be stick and as always it will not be stock for long, (already looking at vortech supercharger), but i dont know awd is really nice and ive heard you can beat cars with almost twice the power. ugh, i still dont know.

Then get a 95 and older Mustang 5.0, much better aftermarket potential.

Yes pre 99 mustang gt autos are dogs stock but if you plan to mod them they are one car you wouldn't want to mess with.A few bolt on's like gears,exhaust and some good tires could get the car in the low 14's with a good driver.Thats as fast as a 99+ stang.And a 94-95 5.0 stang has a much bigger after market then the 99+ stangs but for out of the box power 99+ mustang hands down.

As far as the weight thing...put the 96-98 4.6 liter engine in a 2500 lb car and see what happens.

And for looks... it's personal oppinion.

lucki17 since you will plan to mod the car then get the stang.Believe me with H/C/I and a good S/C you can make 500-600 Rwhp! Loads of power with mods.Thats the good thing about a V-8 over a v-4.

BTW try to get a 5.0 mustang.Like kman said it has a bigger and cheaper aftermarket then the 4.6 mustangs.

Heh, what I would do is just get a 99+ GT w/ a manual transmission and be running low 14s right out of the box, but the 5.0 has plenty of tuning potential :)

maybe i will just get a fox body 5.0 ive noticed them and they are alot cheaper than the others, i know that they look kinda dated but im sure i can fix that, but still the talon lingers, i drove a friends 92' and all he had was some simple exhast and turbo goodies but that thing was fun as hell, guess now i just need to find a stang to try out.

V-4? WTF?

In line 4 cylinder known as L4.

Would you consider an old mustang SVO? Best of both worlds. low price. 4cyl. pretty fast. sounds angry. If you want a mustang, this is a pretty nice car, I think.

i'd say go with the talon awd. you can run low 14's with $18

Well, you gotta think about what you wanna do with the car. If you just wanna drag race, the Fox Body 5.0 is the obvious choice. There's no replacement for displacement in a straight-line race, and the powertrain is rock solid (easily lasts over 200,000 miles if properly taken care of).

not that I disagree with you but what activity would you recommend the awd dsm (over the fox) for?
