Newbie needs help

Well Im a young guy and new to the car world. Ive decided to get a muscle car as a restoration project and a daily driver. I was wondering what would be the best car for me. Im looking for something around $5,000 that would be easy to work on and easy to find parts for cheap. Im not really worried about power, im much more concerned with body style. So if anyone has any advice it would be much appreciated.

There have been several good threads right here, recently, in musclecars on this topic.

My suggestions:
1. Pick the car or body style you really like. It's easier to maintain enthusiasm.
2. Pick a car that is very popular because its much easier to get parts for it.
In general terms:
The sporty GM products (Camaro, Firebird, GTO, Chevelle) and the Mustang, from the 60's and very early 70's are best for this. Just about every possible part is available, as new or reproduction.

Of these, the Chevys are a bit cheaper and easier to restore.

Lots of others have considerable parts available, like certain Chryslers, but are a bit more difficult and expensive to do, generally speaking.

Get a book, look at pictures, and study the internet (one website comes to mind). Pick something you like, because that will keep you going. There is no "best" car, just the one that is best for you.
