i have a 91 accord ex, auto trans
this is only a intermittent problem but one of concern. why is it that only sometimes the car will NOT shift out of Park. (and yes with the car running and my foot on the brake ) it happened a few times and I didnt think much of it. I turned the ignition off and back on and then it worked. but today I struggled for 30 mins trying to get the car out of park after i had driven it for awhile and then parked for a few mins. i would think if something was blown or had gone bad it would be that way permanently but its only sometimes so what may be the problem ???

Just had the same problem..It's the shifter cable, worth between $65 to 239$, check with local Junk Yard, they may have one for about 25$. I took out the console between the seat, saw the control cable, but did not see anything wrong...so I had someone play with the hand shifter, while I looked for a noise under the hood, that guided me directly under the transmission housing...THERE it was, the cable hanging barely holding, the stripped wires and all...if you can't do it yourself, get a towing, but before...shop around for that part,,,Honda will sell that almost 200$ and Plus....
