type r wont go into gear

we just finished installing a purge kit on my friends itr and were going to show it at a neighborhood hang out when all of a sudden we were stopped at a light and the car wouldn't go back into a gear. we installed a skunk2 short shifter a few weeks ago and i noticed that when the car was in gear, the shifter seemed loose.

i checked underneath the car to make sure everything was still on there and it was, including the spacer. everything is fine on the outside of the trans. is there something on the inside of the trans that could have broken? the clutch is fine and the shifter still travels, it just wont catch any of the gears.

we have to tear it apart tommorow because we wanted to take the car to hot import nights here in chicago so hopefully it is just something small that wont take more than a day to fix.
