Rear Shocks for 89 Bird

Hi, Theres always something bothering my 89 bird. and now I have noise right above my shocks. Squeaking and quite a bit annoying. I took the car to the shop, and after half hour we finally figured it out. The bolts that hold the shock in place seem to be stripped, so if I tighten the bolt it will just hold for a while and it will soon start getting loose making sqeaking noise (very friggin annoying). I wasnt sure if I can just unscrew the screw and get another one. It also bothers me that I might stripp the piece that the bolt screws on. Its a touchy situation (at least I think). So I was wondering if its safe to remove the bolt with the car sitting in the driveway. Also could i possibly strip the part that the bolt screws on?

you might want to jack it up for more room, and replace the bolts. Might as well replace the shocks too.

Or you could retap the shock tower studs.And if that dont work. You could throw a weld in it to keep the bolt from loosening up..But when you replace the shock just grind off the old stud.....goood luck...
