In order from cheapest to most expensive:
DIY valve type
generic ebay, probably not precise enough
JoeP, SBR MBC, simple and will probably work fine
TurboXS, GReddy, HKS... good but too expensive
electronic... the best :)
I wish I would have gotten a used analog electronic one, like an older profec-b or AVC-R for $80-150. If not, maybe the more precise MBC's. Ball and spring, not bleeder. SBR valve for $50 should be great if you want to go the cheapest. I went cheaper, but increasing boost is one of the very best ways to gain power, so it's worth plenty, if people pay $200-300 for blow off valves :)

well. ive looked seriously at eletronic boost controlers, but with an awd, the Avc rpm boost isnt nessasary, the profec-b is cool becasue of its limiters and warrnings, but to simply set 16-18lbs of boost and not have to worry about it, i dont think 250-400 is worth it. i would love to find one for less then 30 bucks. joep is $40, i've heard good things about them, Hallman's kits are expensive.
thanks for the info. I'll keep looking for one thats a "ball and spring".

I would check these out i dont think you can get any cheaper than this....http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=7912614249&category=42604
or

If anyone would discourage this please feel free. It is ball and spring mbc's. Or you can think of going to a hardware store and doing something like Jake (RST). Jake if you could maybe you can list the parts you bought.

i've gone as far as clicking the BUY NOW on one of those, but decited aginest it, it didnt have the hardware to tap into the lines. and i was skidish with some of their Negitive comments. i might end up going for it, its only $10.
yeah, i reamber that thread. i was thinking about going and doing that, but i dont have the slightest clue how to put one together. im computer smart, not metal smart.

read kevin's post on RKO about how a MBC, wastegate, and BOV work.
The point is, a ball and spring activates at a certain pressure for good, while any other valve just lets some air pass through. Less precise, but if you can get it just perfect and not touch it... have fun.
