I've a '00 US E-320 and I need to replace the right-hand parking lamp bulb. I've removed the dust cover, but the bulb socket will not separate from the lamp housing with either gentle pulling, or gentle twisting. Nothing in the owner's manual tells me how to detach the bulb socket from the housing. I've looked at it with my mirror and cannot tell if it is a pressure fit, or a twist-out connection. I can see two brass "screw heads" that do not appear to be torx or Phillips, but do not know if these secure the bulb, or if they are posts that allow the bulb to lock into place. Changing a bulb sounds simple enough, but, as this is my wife's car, I don't want to go pulling things loose. Does anybody know how this bulb is fitted to the housing. I also don't want my wife to know that I can't change a simple light bulb on her car.
TIA

OK, I've got the answer, though the service writers a MB agency didn't know how to do it. Am I really surprised?
Anyway, the socket does rotate to lock/unlock - I just had not applied enough pressure, not wanting to end up with a broken fixture and a handfull of wires. Gentle forward pressure, and a firm rotation of the lamp mount is all that it took. Too bad that MB didn't put about 2cm more wire, as replacing the bulb above the air-intake would have been much easier. As it is, one must either remove the air-filter housing and intake, or make do in about 1cm of space. Regardless, the bulb is changed and my wife's instrument cluster warning no longer sites: "Fault - lamp bad... "
