performance shift problems

I recently had a problem with the light underneath the shifter (the one that lights up p, r, n, d, ...) going off and on so I took center console apart and found that the wire had broken. After fixing that and putting everything back together, the performance shift doesn't work. The light doesn't even come on in the dash when I press the button. Any ideas on what I did or what is wrong? Thanks

You never reconnected the performance shift wire that goes to the switch, or there is a bad connection in the console. that is probably it.

not to sure about this but I think it jsut grounds a signal from the pcm, which then makes the pcm change the transmissions table values.

my performance shift button went out on my 97 grand prix. The wire had disconected from the button which just completes a circuit when pressed. The wire had just come unsottered. I wound up just extending the wire to a hidden toggle switch. I know thats a little ghetto but it worked and i no longer accidentaly press the button with my knee.

sure enough, the wire had become unsoldered so I just soldered it back and it works fine. Thanks for the help.

The performance shift button raises the pressure in the trans. Makes it shift a little harder.
