Need help in removing ign switch 98 silverado

What is the proceadure? Have a copy of diagram of the whole steering collum, doesn't help. Have removed the lower panel & aquired the torx soc #4 for top panel, still will need to remove ign switch for panel to come off. About ready to modify the top panel with a utility knife! Need to replace the Hazzard/turn signal assembly"$245". Dealer wanted $350 plus labor!
