is it possible to hook up the kickdown cable and if not what is another good carburetor i can get and still hook up the kickdown cable?
any help would be great because when i am goin 85mph my tackometer is readin about 4grand or 4500

either you got some really steep gears in the rear end, or your tranny is in the wrong gear at 85. i'm assuming you have a th350? there should be an adapter you can get for your carb, you can use something like a quadrajunk

he could have a 700r4 and its not going into overdrive....

the guy i bought it off of said u can't hook up the kickdown cable with this particular carb. so it shifts from L1 to L2 to D but when i get up to speed the RPM's don't go back down to like 15 or 2 grand when u are cruisin it jus stays there? guess i jus dont' know what to do

umm, i think you are miss informed as to what a kickdown cable does. a kickdown cable does what it should like it does, it kicks the tranny down a gear, but not when you go faster, when you go usualy more than 3/4 throttly, providing you are going slow enough to go into second gear. like say you are crusing slowly and your in third and turning like 2500RPM's, and you stomp on the throttly, then it will automaticaly kick the tranny down into second gear. what your refering to sounds more like a over tranny where it would just shift into 4th gear. you only have a 3 speed.

ah.. so there is now way for me to cruis at a high speed at a fairly low rpm... like 85mph-125mph or so. i was jus wonderin because one of my friends has a T/A firebird with a big block 400 in it and it will cruise easy... thanks

To cruise at a high speed you need to get a transmission that has an over drive gear, or change the gears in your rear axle to something thats a little easier to cruise with.
