88 Escort Tail/Cyclops Light

I had a wierd problem (now fixed). When the parking lights were turned on, the cyclops light would also light. With the parking/headlights off, when I hit the brake, the dash and parking lights would come on.

I replaced the bulb in the left rear tail light and the problem went away. The bulb appeared to be working correctly, however, it had an internal short between the tail light filiment and the brake light filiment causing the above problem. I had mechanics shaking their heads trying to find the short.
