´93 VR6 weird hydraulics (clutch) problem

Sometimes (just sometimes) after leaving the car parked for a period of time - a few hours at least - the clutch pedal just doesnt work - the pedal goes to the floor and theres no pressure. "pumping" the pedal 10 or 20 times get it working fine again, and then it stays fine all the time that the car is being driven. Other times I´ve left the car parked over-night or longer and it has been fine. This seems weird to me - if the system was leaking (no sign of that) or needed bleeding wouldn´t it behave the same way all the time? The hydraulic level is fine and theres no signs of any leaks, though the fluid does look pretty discouloured so I guess it should really be changed -- would that fix it?

Changnig the fluid is often overlooked & couldn't hurt. Unfortunately it sounds like some damage has already occurred - probbly a problem with the (clutch) master cylinder. Maybe something likw\e a valve or check ball is just sticking & a fluid change will help.

Thanks boschman. The problem has not occured now for several days. I guess I will change the fluid as its a job I can handle myself (well, I havent looked yet, but I´m hoping the bleed valve is reasonably easy to get to). Its not high on the priority list right now though as I still have to deal with the broken starter, and latest addition - failed windscreen washer.
