Hey guys, I need to get an alarm to put on my truck... but dont know which one to get. I am between Compustar and Viper or Python. But any other suggestions are welcomed. Im looking for a remote start/ security, 2 way system. I want the most top of the line one. Thanks!

I have a Viper system installed with an added air horn. It works great, and I would recommend it to anyone.

I do not have the remote start, so I cannot really comment on that.

Before I decided on Viper, I did research on the different alarm systems available, and found that Viper is one of the best systems.

Yea, Im kinda leaning more towards a Viper. So, is the 791XV model the newest and best? Or do you know if there's a newer model? Cuz someone told me they were like $1500 and the most expensive ones i can find are like $500. I mean, if i can get a cheaper one then that's great... im just wondering what they were talking about for $1500...? Thanks.

I would believe the $500 price, not the $1500.

The best thing to do would be to find someone local that sells Viper and other brands, and just talk to them to see what they recommend.

Okay, that's what i thought. Another question... what was the thing about Viper that made you buy it? Like, what set it apart from all the other security systems??

Pretty much just the fact that it got such high ratings everywhere I looked, and the store that installed it highly recommended it.

I have personally installed about every kind out there. I have done the Compustar and although it had some neat items on it, it seem to fall short on range. Plus, their technical advice is horrid. I use to sell Sidewinder for a shop, then Viper for another. I decided to open my own and now sell Python. They are all the same thing really. I would go for any of the DEI stuff if I was you and not just because I sell them. Also, there is another alarm 2-way out there. The 791 is the older unit. There is a newer version that has LED lights that light up plus it beeps and vibrates. It is meant to be priced a little lower but the remotes are to be much more durable.

What ever you pick, make sure to get a back up battery siren and merc. tilt switch for a hood pin. That way you are sure to have the alarm to trigger if being tampered with.

What do you mean by a tilt switch for a hood pin? And do you know what the newer model is?
