Does a bad IACV affect smog check ?

Have a Nissan Sentra GXE 95 with a Bad IACV (with check engine light on - found by the error code generated by mechanic).

Currently, i do not want to change the IACV (since the mechanic is asking for ~275 $$$) ...want to clean it myself before taking it back to mechanic...However have not found time for it yet !!!! Car driving fine with the check engine light on !!!

Question is will this effect the smog check test ?? Does a bad IACV effect a smog check test in California ?
