I've had this kit for a while now and really want to be a part of this competition, I think it will be one of the biggest online contests ever how things are going!
Anyway, this is a picture of the car I will be building for the contest..
http://img22.photobucket.com/albums/v65/willster127/DOME/racing-for-h-1.jpg
The kit is a Provence Moulage curbside and I will be adding details to the cockpit as it's pretty plain in there.
Anyway, progress to follow and consider me officially entered!!

Pretty ambitous model with all them decals. But with enough micro-sol anything is possible! Good luck.

Ok, we're underway, sorry for the delay.
Some of you asked for pics of the decal sheet so here they are....
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v65/willster127/DOME/Decal1.jpg
I've also started cleaning up the body, this is a nice casting, very little flash and I will start attaching the photoetch parts to it tonight.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v65/willster127/DOME/Body2.jpg
The chassis and seat are very basic so I'll be getting some aftermarket belts for in there and I'll do a bit of wiring in the passenger area.

The pics were very slow loading for me, and i'm on broadband. Other than that, good luck, i'm sure it will look great when done because of the decal pattern.

Did they only give you the one decal sheet? The whole experience would be calmer on the nerves if they gave you a spare.

OK, some progress...
The photoetch pieces were added behind the front wheels and filled, the whole car was primed in grey primer to look for imperfections, after more filling and sanding I applied two coats of Tamiya white surface primer and wet sanded. After the body dried I applied five coats of TS-26 pure white straight from the can, hitting it with the hairdrier between coats and then rubbing out after it had dried for a couple of days.
Then the fun started.... the decals!! So far I have applied three decals, one on each side of the cockpit fornt to back and one on the engine cover, the decals are very thin and respond well to microset and hairdrier heat, so, here it is, comments please...

Looks good so far. The fenders look to be a little bit harder than the part you have done. But I am more than confident you can do it!
The black and white pattern must drive you mad because looking at it for 10 seconds gives me a headache!

Well, I managed to get some modelling time over the last week or so and I want to get this one finished up ready for the Start of the big race!
I managed to finish all of the hardcore decal work and have started filling in some of the gaps with the supplied fill in sheets.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v65/willster127/DOME/IMG_4119.jpg
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v65/willster127/DOME/IMG_4120.jpg
Now, the interesting part, the wheels supplied with the kit are, I think, terrible. The wheel housing is turned Aluminium with the spokes and the brake disc are cast in one piece of resin, not only will it be a pig to paint but it will be a nightmare trying to get a decent finish.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v65/willster127/DOME/IMG_4114.jpg
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v65/willster127/DOME/IMG_4117.jpg
So, I decided to have a go at photoetching. A friend of mine is into aircraft modelling and has done it before so I got cracking on a CAD model and layed out some parts. The black outline below is the etch sheet that I will make sometime this week. The parts I am making are the spokes, a brake disc, disc bell, brake caliper (2 parts for depth) and some spacers to shim the whole thing up inside the wheel.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v65/willster127/DOME/IMG_4118.jpg
I guess if all of this fails I can always resort to the resin inserts supplied in the kit!!!!!! Comments welcomed

If you get the photo-etch done I'll take a couple of sets! Need to do the same deal on th '04 Domes I'll be building.
Your build is looking very nice BTW, good to see more 1:43 models on the forum.

Just had a first attempt at photoetching, decided to keep it simple and just etch from one side to see what kind of result I could get. First off I had to re layout the etch fret as I had forgotten the brake discs! Then I printed the sheet off onto special paper which is then ironed onto the material, this acts like the mask. The back of the sheet was masked completely, except for one or two areas that I missed!!!
Anyway, I used the wrong material and it was too thick, I chose 0.015" brass. With etching from a single side the parts teneded to undercut massively and where there should be a sharp corner I ended up with rounded corners, here is the sheet that I did....
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v65/willster127/DOME/IMG_4124.jpg
There are also a few holes in it, this is where I hadn't masked the back properly. Anyway, the modeller in me couldn't help filing a few pieces up to see how it all looked and it has certainly motivated me to carry on with this method, Here's the comparison.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v65/willster127/DOME/IMG_4126.jpg
The next attempt will be with 0.015" copper and etched from both sides, some careful lining up of the masks will be in order I think!

Good first attempt at PE. Based on this trial, you can adjust the pattern to get better results. For example you could try widening the ends of the wheel spokes so they dont come out rounded. You might also try using 0.005" thick sheet. Good luck with it!
