Temperature blinking?

I replaced the multi-function switch earlier this week (which did not fix my problem of tail lights and instrument panel lights not working).

My battery also got drained earlier this week.

The car worked fined yesterday.

This morning when I started the car, the temperature blinked and continues to blink. Does anyone know anything about this?

my temperature blink on occasion too. on one trip in will blink the who trip. on the return trip it will be fine. everything seems to be operating normal tho, so I'm leaving it alone. If this is the same as yours, I would suggest not worrying about it. I hope it does not develop into something more severe. *knocks on wood*

am I correct in thinking that the gauge also reads the outside temp. Reason I'm asking is one day when it was 75 degrees I did something and it read -27. malfunction or what. I can't seem to get it to do it again. Can someone tell me what to do to get it to read outside temp if its supposed to.

Im not sure about the Aurora but when the temp began blinking on my Pontiac Bonniville with auto temp control the AC stopped working. It seemed to be somekind of malfunction indicator.

Would you suggest a recharge of the system?

I couldnt tell you if that would work or not because when I traded in the Bonni for my Aurora the AC still wasnt working.

Its supposed to read outside temperature. Check the sensor and connector up on the left front side of the car, not sure exactly where but near the front bumper area. My dad's temperature readings where like that and when that occured he had no a/c. My brother found the connector dragging on the ground :banghead:. He fixed the connector and it worked great until someone driving in the opposite direction did not see him coming and decided to turn right in front of him.

I was just looking through my 97 Aurora FSM and found this on page 1C-15.

Fault Detection-

Upon detection of a system fault, the display on the climate control assembly will flash one time a second for 100 seconds. If a fault occurs in the outside air tempature circuit the display WILL NOT flash. However, the outside tempature will be absent from the display.

This might be too late to help you guys, but my cabin temp guage flashed also. I have a 95 Aurora. It ended up being a faulty PCM. Replaced the computer (under pass. dash) and everything was fine. Of course I also had major engine problems prior to PCM replacement. If you're not having any engine problems, then it may not have anything to do with the computer. You might want to think about checking things out with a scan tool.
