I have a 2001 V6 auto vert that is bone stock. A friend of mine has a 97 V8 Explorer (4 door) with dual Flowmasters and a K&N filter, other than that it's all stock also. He thinks because he has a "V8" that I'm easy kill. We both have busy schedules so I haven't had time to put him in his place. What do you think?

Although there is a section for these questions, not here, heres my 2 cents. I'd actually have to say it would be a good race. You've got a v6 - auto - convertable, no offense, but about the slowest there is. He's got a 4000+ pound SUV(2 door/4 door?) with a v8(4.6/5.0?) and some minor mods. Either way, race and find out!

there's no way he'll win. SUV's/trucks just aren't geared for it. I have a 2001 V6 auto stang and i've beaten silverados (5.7 liters 300+hp).

V8 explorer all the way. My parents have a 99 V8 5.something litre engine. Its got all wheel drive! theirs no spinning the tires. Its not all wheel drive all the time, but if a wheel starts to slip then it turns on. That just makes it take off so hard off the line. And that V8 is extremly powerful.

I seriously doubt you beat a Silverado. Now the 300+ horses your talking about comes from the 5.3 Liter motors. Not the 350ci motors. Silverado's amazingly run low 15's, high 14's with the 5.3L, regular cab, 2 wheel drive models. Your car most likely runs low to mid 16's. Sorry no match for those trucks.
