engine swap

i have a friend that has a 1992 mustang 5.0. i dont kno a whole lot about mustangs but he wants to take a 02 or 03 cobra engine and swap it in. would that swap work and if it does what tranny should he get to go with it. he already has replaced all the suspension so that wont be a problem it the swap works. any advice on doin the swap would be apreciated. thx.

I dont know if it will work or not. But I can tell you that you have alot to change over if you attempt the swap. First of all 02 and 03 are 2 diff motors. 2nd I'm not sure it the crossmember will work or not. 3rd the wiring and computer need to be swapped out. This is just a small list. Good luck!

I've seen it done. I don't know what all went into getting it done but those guys did it. I'm sure that your going to need everything like the wiring harness, computer and what ever else runs the motor. Good luck and let us know if you do it. Theres a video floating around showing a fox body with a 03 cobra motor in it. I'm sure if you look around the net you'll find it. They had strapped to the dyno and boy did it sound goooooooooooood!. other that the supercharger, what are the differences between the 00-02 cobra engines adn the 03. i kno they added the s/c but did they do any other changes. its a 7k price jump to buy the 03.

I don't know what the differences are between all the motors. Is 7k for everthing? I hope that you get everything like the harness, computer, etc... I would jump at that price I hope that you have something else to ride until you get all the bugs worked out. Good luck...

There is a lot of difference between the 99/01 Cobra motors and the 03-04 Cobra motors besides the S/C. Do a search you'll find it somewhere I don't want to type it all out.
