power braking/brake torque

Ive heard that most often times, to get the best results for 0-60 times in an auto tranny, people will use brake torque. (keep the car in drive but pressing the break and accelerator at the same time to create an effect similar to a neutral drop in a manual.)

anyways....how bad is this for the brakes? cause ive done it a few times...and im just wondering what its effects might be on the brakes.

all it does is make them work when they don't have to...it doesn't really do much...but if u actually get the wheels to spin when u power brake, that is when it can mess up the brakes...

They're not the same thing. You've described poewr braking. Brake torquing is when you flash the torque converter. To do so, depress your brake pedal just enough to keep the car from moving, no harder. Then, when the light goes green, floor it. This is the method I use as it isn't hard on anything.
