installing aftermarket head unit..wire question

hey.. i just bought a 91 mr2 T and i'm installing an aftermarket head unit. i bought a wire harness and it doesn't fit the stock radios harness in the dash... someone told me i had to unplug the factory amplifier and plug in my wire harness there.... any ideas? thanks alot.... i'm very puzzled. steve

Haha Yeah That Might Work... Do You Have The "premium Sound System" I Ahve A Few Wiring Diagrams Cause I Had A Bitch Of A Time Doing Mine... Managed To Get It To Work Then Founf Diagram. There Were Heaps Of Set Ups Evidently.

well.. i belive its the premium sound system.. its got the " sub" or whatever they call it behind the drivers side seat.. its got the cdplayer.tape.radio... so i guess its the premium system.. i'm not sure.. So do i even use the wire harness i bought.. or is it useless? and diagrams i'm sure would b helpful.. thanks alot, steve

i don't know how to put the pic of the wiring up here but i have the premium system and it seemed to make sense for mine... i could email it to you?

yah hi.. it would b awoeomse if u could email me those diagrams.. and also.. is it very hard 2 wire it all up? i'd rather not cut and splice and all that, but i guess i could if need b.. thanks. steve

well you'll have to give me yur email cause you must've ticked the box saying none from autoforum... sorry i reckon splicing will be necessary... i got a bunch of little plugs and did mine... that way i could swap them round if i got it wrong...

well trd.. i tried emailing you and i guess it didn't work. i guess i'm stuck just trying to find a shop that will wire it up for me.. i wanan get the stock out soon. its drivin me crazy... the cd plalyer only works half the time. ne how.. thanks.. ne one else have ne advice.. ti would b much appreciated. thanks again
