Hello all, I just had a quick question about getting fuel out of the carburator. I am new to gas RC's and i recent got my hands on a CEN racing CT4S. Now i read somewhere and also someone told me to never leave fuel in the carburator, so i was wondering how do i get it out after use, there is a pump-like object on the gas tank, is that what i use? here is a pic of what iam talking about:

Is that what i use? If not, what are some ways? Thanks in advance.

The pump thing is used to "prime" the carb by pushing fuel into it before the vehicle is started. This makes the vehicle start on the first pull of the pullstart or right away on the starter box. You don't have to use it.

My thoughts are most of the fuel will naturally drain out of the carb and puddle around the crankshaft. I was taught to keep the engine at bottom dead center and don't leave fuel in the tank because it will spoil. I have never heard of emptying a carb, but my vehicle (Kyosho inferno DX II) has been in starage for about 2 years, so i may be out of the loop.

Oic hmmm I know what priming an engine is, hmmm so how would i empty the gas tank, just run it until it dies? if not then how do i turn it off?

If you run it till it dies the engine will get leaned out at the end which could damage your engine unless you run it really really rich all the time (like me :) ). To stop it i stick the toe of my shoe up against the exhaust tip and smother it. I have also heard of touching the flywheel AT IDLE ONLY with a shoe, but i havn't tried it.

Any kind of sucking device will empty it. A small turkey baster or something. I never get all of teh fuel out, but they isn't much of a puddle in the tank when im done.

Well.. it's been covered but I'll just tell you I use my empty gas bottle to suck it up.
