I Was At My Freinds House Yesterday, And His Brothers Freind Showed Up, Well Anyways He Asked Me If That Was My Camaro Upfront I Told Him Yes, He Said He Had A 87 V6 Supercharged, My First Thought Was This Guy Was B/s, But He Said He Was Pushing 400hp, I Told Him Who Would Super Charge A Third Generation V6, I Told Him That It Wasn't Practical To Super Charge A Six Banger, Let Alone A Third Generation V6. He Said He Bought The Car Too For 350.00 Dollars, I Just Ignored Him, But Is That Even Possible To Push 400 Hp From A Third Gen V6 Camaro?

sure if its built right... and has more then just a supercharger done to it... like ex.. pistons rods.. etc....

oh.. ask him to take a look at it.. and if he has proof its over 400.. and what alls done to the motor cause it would take alot of work and would be pretty damn expensive.... and ask him where he got the supercharger cause i dont think they make them for them so it would have to be custom

Look into the Turbo Trans Am. In 89 it had the same basic motor as the buick grand national, minus the heads I think.

3.8L SFI Turbo V6

It made lots of power and would make lots more with a few mods.

yeah but the 87 camaro has a 2.8 liter. i have never seen someone waste that ind of money on one. i dont think its worth it, i would have to see it.
i used to own a 91 with a 3.1 v6 and it only had 140 hp.

maybe its not the original v6 that came in the car

Chalk me down on the list of people that think he is full of shit. I mean just look at the 350z project car above. That is not even at 400 hp and the motor started at like 260 rwhp. And even with the remote possibility the motor is blown he is probably one of those people that think you get 20-25hp from putting in a K&N filter.

Anythings possible, I have a friend who bought 3 of those jet chips, hooked them up in series and got an extra 200 horsepower. he was running about 240 and we took it to the dyno and he got 438 at the flywheel!

yea but if you hook up 8 and ground the 6th to the firewall, you get 1500 extra RWHP... and thats on top of the 75 extra hp i got by turning my radiator upside down

ask the guy where he got his supercharger from. if he tells you it was a kit from a company or site, he's horseshit. if he tells you that he made it himself than he might not be completely BSing and you should ask to take a look. NO ONE makes a supercharger kit for any v-6 camaro...

thats retarded. not trying to put you down hard or anything but that wouldnt work. i can tell you right now that the way the jet chip works it wouldnt give you any more horse power to put ten in series or 1000 in series...

i asked the guy who had the v6 camaro supercharged if i could see his car because he only lived around the corner, he said that his hood didnt want to open, i told him he was full of it, i told him since he couldnt open his hood to prove it, i told him that i would race my 89RS against his, i told him he would easily beat me but i just wanted to see how bad a car with 400 hp would whip me. he said he didn't want too, he said it wasn't worth his time to beat my RS so i put $50 bucks on the race, i told him that's easy $$, and he still didn't want too,so i asked him what would it take for him to race me and he said he doesn't like to race i said what do you mean you don't race i asked him why would you have a 400hp car and not want to race it and make easy money,well anyways he ended up saying he had to go home, so i'm pretty sure he's full of it.

im a proud owner of a 89 RS camaro with a 2.8 MPFI V6.
im running 270 HP right now and i dont have a lot done to it.
chances are the guy isent bullshitting. im running stock intake with K&N air filters, polished heads, dual exhaust, 2500 stall torque converter, rebuilt 700R4 tranny with Borg Warner clutches, and reybestos bands, and a performance chip.
its a mean camaro for pretty much being stock.
i can out run most 305's and a few 350's.
2.8 are great building blocks. and for being a V6 in a bigger car its one fast little shit. and because the motor sit's back closer to the fire wall than a 305 or 350, so it has way better handling. but any way im looking to supercharge mine and im gonna give it hell cuz i have a few ideas and i work at a machine shop so i can make what ever i need for it.
i have a few ideas and i think a few of them just might work if i can do it right.

What proof do you have of this "270 hp" out of your 2.8?

a 2.8 had what, 120hp stock? I'm gonna call :bs: on this untill I see a dyno sheet. Ok, so you got a new filter, not a lot of power increase there, heads, nope, not a ton of increase, headers, prob not a lot their either. If you have a custom burned chip, you are probably gained what, 50-70hp MAX outa all that?
