I dont really know much about the g35 except that it is basicly a skyline(not to be confused with the GTR) and has the GTR drivetrain. So I cant say wich one would perform better then the other on dry pavement.
As much as I like the looks of the 350z, something about the g35 coup is just so... sexy in a classy way. Almost european IMO. So at the moment I would pic the g35 in a heartbeat.
I will be interested in any performance stats on these cars and how they compare.

350Z = 287 hp, 274 torque
G35 Coupe = 280 hp, 270 torque
The Z is also a bit lighter and the ride is a bit firmer. But the G35 has usable backseats and a nicer interior. I'd pick the G35 coupe.

2 extremely similar cars, share most of the same parts. Choosing one honestly depends on what your looking for...If you need a more family oriented car take the G35. If you want a car to look real good in but not be so practical the 350Z is for you

I believe that the luxury and looks are carried by the G35... But thats my opinion

I'm not all that informed on the g35 but I don't like the looks as much as the 350z even though they only differ slightly.

G35 looks better...but the Z weighes a bit less...plus is only a 2 seater...but most of the parts can be fitted to the G35 Coupe so it can all even out in the end...
Imagine...black G35 Coupe w/some nice 18's lowered about an 1 inch w/the Aero package...and a supercharger/turbo kit making it put down about 350-370rwhp...nice!

could you specify if you would like the G35 coupe or sedan. They are significantly different.

It's the same damn VQ35DE engine, 350Z is just tuned to deliver more HP. Nissan uses the same engine for Altima, Maxima, G35, 350Z, Murano, etc.

actually on the dyno SCC found that the coupe G35 puts out the same hp as the z and only a bit less torque. i guess nissan wanted the 350Z guys feel a bit more special by rating the G35 coupe lower.

The G35 Coupe is also based on a longer wheelbase version of the FM chassis. This gives it more stable handing.

ok, no other VQ engine in no other nissan is the same as the 350Z's! why? because they are in deed the same, but they are not made of the same material. the 350Z's VQ35 is made mostly of aluminum. the G35, maxima, etc. are made of iron i think. so the 350Z VQ weights less, and slight differences make the 350Z VQ superior to the other VQ's:)
by the way, id take a artic white G35 on brembos... :sunglasse

who cares? and even with that weight decrease, 350Z is still 3200lbs heavy. me not amused.

All VQs are aluminum, going all the way back to the 1st gen VQ30DE that made its debut in 1995.

The VQ-series V6 made its US market debut as the VQ30DE powering the new for 1995 4th gen Maxima.
The VQ might have been released earlier than that in Japan, but I'm not sure.
