How long did it take you to drift?

It might take you a month or so to learn how to be confritable to drif. It sounds and looks easy, but when you are in a car, remember NOT to freak out. Go to a big parking lot thats empty. Oh, and do it when the ground is a little wet because it would be easier for you to break the traction. Do you know how its done or are you new at this?

well I havent done it actually, but I want to cause I havent really done anything cool with the FC cept drive it off after peeling some rubber -_-... Do you think its better if I have someone do it for me in the car or just read instructions online..?

ahhh, hard to say. What kind of drifting do you wanna do? Are you gonna do the handbrake bull (pussys do that), or traditianal drifting with power overs? I think you should get instructions online, watch the Drift Bible video, and have someone do it. Like I said, the first time you do it DONT freak out. Oh, and good suspension is a must.

I did it the last day it snowed, and I didn't even want to! I finished by spectacularly smashing my rear end into a tree. :)

my cousin is big on drifting so he ha sa bunch of videos that I watched way before I got my rx-7 so as soon as I got good at 5spd(my previous car was auto) I was in a parking lot almost every day just testing how it felt and getting used to it so I wouldn't freak out doing it on a real corner
if your just starting you should search google, a lot of web sites give you instructions on how to do it... I started by doing the "scandenavian flic" I believe is what some people call it... when you get to the corner turn out sharply then quickly turn into the corner and then counter steer... this is usually a good way to start because you'll only slide out a little with this alone
then I started power over drifts, basically come into a corner with enough speed to take the corner normally, push in the clutch, rev the engine up high then at the corner entrance dump the clutch and stay on the gas, you should be able to do this fairly easily
my new way of doing it(just started this abotu a month ago) is the braking drift, I think its fun because it takes more timing and doesn't require a lot of power. basically enter a corner faster than you should normally take it, turn in sharp, hit the brakes untill you start moving sideways, let off the brakes and counter steer and slowly get on the gas out of the corner
hope these help

Do you always have to go to 2nd gear everytime you corner? I just see it done that way many times..

I don't have an LSD, its still doable, they won't look as cool without it though I don't think
anyone know how difficult it is to put in an LSD?

The braking drift is also used a lot. Like he said, you just press on the brakes as you hit the corner, which makes your weight shift to the front, and the back will then slide. Is your car modded? When you first start use the stock turbos because they spool quicker than the bigger ones. Get an intercooler, and exhaust for power. But first get good suspension. If you want I can give you links to my friends site, and he can help you.

I sometimes do braking drifts when I'm autocrossing, but it's not as fast as a grip run unfortunately.

The braking drift will slow you down more, as where the clutch power over is much faster around the corner.

The way you say this is like all rx-7s are turbo. Therye not.
Braking drift can be fast as well but the suspension must be tune so that the rear steps out upon braking more than stock.
I learned to drift in a go kart on a slippery track :iceslolan

yea braking drifts can be crazy fast... just have good suspension and go in way too fast slam the brakes hard, you'll go around quick, you just better know how to counter steer really good :)
