Yes it is better. That is why a GSX will take a GST off the line

dont GSx's lose top end power because they have to distribute the power to four wheels

It's actually AWD, 4WD is mostly found on SUV's and pickups, it's a switchable feature. GSX is better than GST off the line even though they have a greater drivetrain loss

I challenge anyone to race my car with a 2wd and see if they beat me to the end of the track, taking me on the "top end." ;) I just dont see the dissadvantage.

Sure, in theory, two identical cars, same power, one 2wd, one awd, you will see some difference. But in a quarter mile scenario the AWD still makes out like a bandit. Just look at stock GST vs GSX ETs.

Add in some serious power and the AWD really owns. Try hooking up a 450-500 whp front driver. It can be done, and people do it, but I do it in the snow on all seasons. :D Well, you get my point. No slicks here.

If all you do is highway race, sure the 200 pound advantage may win you some races. Just be aware that it only takes about 20 HP to overcome an extra 200 pounds weight. Not really enough to be a deciding factor, once the cars are modded, IMO.

I am biased, but I hope I at least raised some good points. :)

drivetrain loss is an issue but on the average highway race stock vs stock, you will run together all the way down the road.

like Kevin said, put some high hp to AWD...... you will be raping the best of em

If it is for track, AWD is better because you will get a better start off the line and you will not notice the drive train loss in that distance
