Theres a noise thats coming from my engine when its warm, when you hold it at about 2000-2600 rpms. its really hard to describe, but my auto tech teacher said it sounds like main bearing or rod bearing noise. does anyone else have this problem, or is it just a simple adjustment i dont know about(i hope). maybe its just normal, but it sure doesnt sound like it!
thanks.

Its very common for the #2 rod bearing to fail due to a flaw in the oiling system. If you catch it early enough you can get a way with dropping the pan and replacing the bearing. If not its cheaper to find a whole engine and swap it out

By catching it early, do you mean before the engine blows up? Also, is it true that you have to take off all sorts of suspension and steering stuff to take the oil pan off?

Catching it early means before the noise gets bad and you destroy more engine parts. Yes, you've caught it early.

And yes, Look up Oil pan gasket replacement in www.clarks-garage.com for more info.

you don't have to actually remove anything. support the engine. Just undo the inner and rean attaching points, leaving the ball joints attached and simply swing the lower control arms out of the way. Now remove the crossmember and the pan is totally exposed

so YES you do have to remove the suspension crossmember and support the steering rack.
