go to www.board.mr2faq.com (mr2 message board) and use the search function to find info on the flush headlight conversion... a good number of people have done it.

If so many people want flush mount headlights, why doesn't some company manufacture them instead of having to buy sheet metal and make your own. Is it because it requires removing metal from the car in order to put in the headlamps?
Why are they "offroad use only?"

It's also because once you do the conversion, you can't go back. All conversions require you to cut part of the body after you remove the headlamp assembly. Streetweapon makes a kit but it's around $400 and still requires you to cut a hole into the front trunk.

I'm new to this forums, thought I say Hi to all the MR2 owners out there. I owned an MR2 for 3 years now, havent' join any club, go to any MR2 meets, or even been to an Import Showoff. Too busy with work I guess.
I was surfing the net this morning and found this forums, thought I might dropped in and help out those who are interested in MR2 like I am.
I've decided to reply to this post because I am in the process of making a new headlights for my car after 1 year of daily driven with my aluminum box headlights. So far cops has not stopped me, or did they ever give me any ticket for the lights, yet they do comments on how nice the MR2 are while writing me a registration ticket.
Yes, you do need to cut the front for the headlights, as long as you leave the 2 holes for the original bolts you can always put back your stock lights. So far I've only got this far with my new fiberglass housing, my 1st attempt with fiberglass ever and talk about natural high from the fumes. All work is done by me since my friends are all too busy.
I'm open for all criticism, debate, and tips.
