94 accord automatic problems

Hello all,
a complete newbie to your forum. My daughter has a 94 accord lx automatic. She told me the other day that it seemed like the car was not accelerating when pressing the gas, she would put it in drive but no response. I had her get the transmission fluid checked. Today she calls me at work and says that when she puts the car drive,, press gas it doesnot move. She had it towed home. tonight i get in the car, start it, put it in reverse, and it subtling goes in and moves backward, I then slip it in neutral, then in drive, it sits for a few seconds then i can barely feel it catch gear and it moves, i do this through all 4 forward drive positions, and each time it takes a few seconds to respond, and it's so light i could barely tell it when into gear. finally after several times putting it in reverse and then drive, it would give a little knock going into reverse, and after a while would not move at all in any drive position. Any suggestions would be highly appreciated, as I know nothing of hondas, very little of automatics as i have owned only 2 in my lifetime, all manual trans for me. ASgain thank you in advance for your help for this newbie :>)

Dear Accord Owner,
Wished i knew the mileage on your Accord. Take a quick at the trans fluid on the dipstick. Is there fluid there? Does it smell and look Black?
some times these problems are fixed by a changing of the fluid and a filter if there is one. The local Honda-Accura deal can inform you if there is a filter to change. Also,.. on these cars the Transmission shift cable stretches,... effecting the shift timing and overdrive in Forth Gear!
Hope this info helps!

The 94 accord automatic has no filter to change. The fluid must be replaced at specified intervals or the fluid breaks down, and the transmission will fail to function correctly. Take the car to the dealer and have the automatic transmission service package performed.
