85 parisiene idle problem

i was reading a posting in bonneville by thefish and it sounded just like my problem,is the [IAC]MINE IS A 4BBL 305 mounted on the front of the carb.in the shape of a vac.pot with a control rod coming out of it?
If so and it is [gunked]could it be cleaned by shooting wd40 or carb cleaner in it safly without messing up something?assuming this is the problem.
