More (but different) alarm woes...

Hi All...
my stats again...
1999 MK3 VR6 GTI, all luxury options
(including 'possessed' factory alarm/anti-theft sys) and NO MODS.
Well, the alarm hasn't gone off when arming/locking the car
anymore, so that problem seems to be gone, BUT...
(see thread: "Weird Alarm Problem...")
Today, nothing out of the ordinary, it rained like usual,
but I tried to start the car... NO GO!
The starter won't turn the engine over.
I bypassed the alarm by shorting Pin #5 and #6, as per Boschmann's
instructions (I shorted the traces on the module's circuit board with
heavy gauge solid wire. I'll remove it after - if I can solve it), and the
car starts. So I have a functioning alarm WITHOUT starter kill option.
NOW...
The alarm works otherwise - the car arms/disarms properly...
JUST that the starter kill relay won't disengage.
(...or "engage", didn't check which contacts are used...)
Any ideas? ...Anyone? ...Boschmann? ...Bueller? ...Bueller? ...Bueller?
Is the alarm unit/module 'fornicated' ?
Or is there a legitimate condition, in which nothing is in violation
of the alarm, but it still keeps the starter disengaged?
(microcontroller/firmware decay?)
